Introduction
Where the world of art collides with the world of graphic design and branding is where Peter sits commercially and for seven years he was one of the creative guardians of FIFA’s brand, a role which gave him a unique insight into how the governing body of world football operates.
Peter gives an insightful and informative seminar on the branding work he helped carry out for FIFA, which includes an in-depth case study of the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan; an overview of the design of the 2003/07 Women’s World Cup emblem; and the story behind the creation of the 2006 World Cup emblem for Germany – culminating with how the branding work extended into the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Peter shares his passion for all things design, football and art, which makes for a truly facinating and unique insight into the world of international sports branding at the very highest level.
Testimonials
“The 'Branding the beautful game' lecture offered a unique insight into the development of branding that has to work on a truly global stage. It was the refreshing and relaxed approach to the delivery of the lecture that allowed the students to engage with the materials and get to grips with discussing the implications of international design work.”
Alan Summers, MA
Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design, University of Chester
“Peter gave an insightful and well constructed lecture to us on the World Cup logos and campaigns he had worked on. It was friendly and down to earth, offering much time for us to ask questions. In all, it was really useful as a student to see such an in-depth case study and I would recommend any student with the chance to catch this lecture to do so, and then try and catch it again.”
Scott Duffey
3rd year student, Graphic Design, University of Chester
“The feed back from the students was excellent. One student told me he bored his Mum, Dad and girlfriend all night talking about the lecture and the work. The students have asked for more guest speakers but I fear Peter will be a hard act to follow. I felt it gave the students a clear indication of what is achievable through hard work and a passion for design, in a clear and inspirational way.”
Pete Jones
Graphic Design Course Leader, Mid-Cheshire College
“You are merely the president of one country. I am president of the world.”
